ROBERTO MATTA
Chilean-born Roberto Matta is regarded as one of the most prominent Surrealists. His internal landscapes, known as “inscapes”, make dramatic and complex use of perspective, symbols, and color. His approach to composition, and the act of painting itself, influenced the early Abstract Expressionist movement.
